Leading Australian-owned freight forwarder and 3PL provider BCR has achieved a major endorsement of its compliant practices and supply chain security, gaining accreditation as an Australian Trusted Trader (ATT).

The ATT program is a voluntary trade facilitation initiative that was launched by the Australian Government in July 2016. ATT brings Australia in line with key international trading partners, joining over 70 countries with similar Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes.

BCR – Accredited as an Australian Trusted Trader

“As one of the first logistics and freight forwarding service providers to become an accredited Australian Trusted Trader, BCR has proven its ability in providing supply chain security and compliance to the benefit of our customers,” says BCR Director and co-owner Robert Hunter.

“We care about the international competitiveness of our customers,” said David Katte, co-owner and Managing Director. “Becoming an accredited Australian Trusted Trader provides our current and future customers with increased assurance that we can assist them with industry best practice and enhanced certainty in border processing, which contributes to their international competitiveness.”

“We have been in operation since 1892, and our business has always focused on continual improvement for the benefit of our customers. This next step continues the company’s tradition of pursuing excellence and continual improvement in providing freight forwarding, third-party logistics and customs advisory services.

How ATT accreditation will benefit BCR customers

Participating in the ATT programme has many benefits for importers, exporters and service providers. One benefit is the appointment of an Account Manager within Australian Border Force. This single point of contact provides direct access for the accredited business which means improved efficiency and less time waiting.

Additional benefits include:

  • Priority service when requesting advanced rulings on tariffs, valuation and country of origin.
  • Differentiated examinations of shipments coming into Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and other parts of Australia as the accredited ATT business will be considered low risk.
  • Mutual recognition arrangements with key trading partners around the world. These mutual recognition agreements will enable Australian Trusted Traders to access trade facilitation benefits of the reciprocal trading partners, which will reduce the customs regulatory burden for Australian exporters entering foreign markets.

Future benefits that will save accredited BCR customers time and money include:

    • Deferral of duty payments on imported goods for a set period of time.
    • Streamlined reporting arrangements to reduce the administrative burden involved in importing and exporting goods.

Mr. Katte said “BCR’s ATT accreditation provides current and future customers with increased confidence that they are putting their goods in the hands of a company that is using best practice approaches.”

“Another benefit of our accreditation is it may simplify the process for our customers themselves to achieve ATT status,” Mr Katte said. “The objective of the program is to ensure supply chains are secure, low-risk, compliant and controlled from origin to final destination, and our ATT accreditation proves we are demonstrably a secure and reputable link in our customers’ supply chains. Our ATT status will then be recognised by Australian Border Force when they apply for their accreditation.”

BCR’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of service now has an added tick of approval that will deliver long-term benefits for international freight forwarding customers. By enhancing the transparency, accountability and efficiency of the logistics solutions process, in a world where managing risk is key to business reputation and profitability, BCR can now contribute even more substantially to our customer’s sense of security and their success.

For more than a century, BCR has continued to help small, medium and large businesses achieve an optimum logistics solution with warehousing and transportation, including air freight and sea freight services to and from the major ports including BrisbaneSydneyMelbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle (Perth).
